In order to improve efficiency, maximize limited City staff resources, and ensure the health and well-being of both the public and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of La Mesa activated an online public portal in 2020 to process building permit applications electronically. On Monday, May 9, 2022, the City will transition from that original portal to a new portal, called MaintStar, which will be more user-friendly, offer online fee payment options, and will directly coordinate with the City's building, planning, engineering, and fire professionals to improve the permit process for both customer and staff.
Permit customers can generate electronic permit applications; submit plans, supporting documents, reports; receive comments and corrections; provide resubmittals; pay fees; and receive permits 100% electronically.
